Keep people and systems in sync

Account provisioning, role changes, and departures can alter access to protected information. Define the approval and removal process and retain appropriate records. Include provider access, service accounts, remote access, and physical access so a staffing change does not leave an unmanaged route into the environment.

Treat changes as scope decisions

A new application, acquisition, office move, provider change, or backup service can affect the assessment boundary and implementation statements. Review the change before information begins flowing through the new arrangement. Update the inventory, diagram, responsibility matrix, and SSP where relevant.

Schedule evidence and operational reviews

Set recurring tasks that fit your safeguards, such as access reviews, vulnerability remediation, log review, training, and incident exercises. Track the evidence needed to demonstrate that the tasks occur. The schedule should match the actual requirement and environment, rather than assigning the same arbitrary cadence to every activity.

Remember the affirmation and assessment cycles

Annual affirmation is part of ongoing CMMC responsibilities. Level 1 has an annual self-assessment cycle; the Level 2 and Level 3 pathways have their respective three-year assessment requirements alongside continuing obligations. Reconcile your internal calendar with the official status record and current contract before relying on it for a new award.

Put the work in a usable structure. CMMC Pulsar can help organize scope, controls, evidence, and documentation. Federal Bid Partners can help define a readiness engagement suited to the environment and required pathway.
